Movie Trailer Premier

Hey everybody! welcome to another one of my amazing blog posts and thank you for taking some time from your day to ready my posts. It really means a lot. So of course in my G.T. class we are starting ANOTHER project. You might be familiar with this because we also did this project in 6th and 7th grade. If you want to see them right now the 6th grade trailer is right here and the 7th grade trailer is right here. So in our new project we will be making a Movie Trailer. On my team is Kyla Bautista, Shaday Thomas, and Taylor Chang. Our Movie will be a thriller about a group of kids that break into a car and steal stuff and couple of months later someone sends them a note that they saw what they did. Since this movie is a thriller we don't only need intense shots but also intense background music and sound effects. And that's where I come in. I work on finding the sounds and foley and music that would match our movie trailer. I got intense sound effects and intense music. I am very excited about how our movie trailer will look and your reaction.

Some of our biggest challenges trying to make the movie trailer was trying to look for a day when we weren't busy. Another challenge was looking for the right music. Music can really change a mood to an audience and we needed to make their adrenaline pumping. Another big problem was trying to really nail that voice acting script and the narration. Needed to sound like myself but different to how I am in the movie. I needed to sound weak in the narration but like my normal self in the movie. Some of our successes were the music. Luckily we were able to find music that really made the audience feel like they were inside of the movie. As if they were stealing the car. As if they were running for their lives. You get the jist.

Our Results from our critique were a success! We were tied for first place! We also didn't get any blues (1s or 2s) so that was also good. I actually learned a lot from this project. I learned what I need to make a successful Movie Trailer and the perfect sounds and music to use. I not only learned about movie tricks but also photoshop tricks. I know how to make texts fit in certain areas in a very easy way by just holding command and changing the pin point of one of the corners of the texts. That was one of the things that really stood out to me that made me feel "Wow. I feel like really I learned something today!" Well thanks for reading this week's post and sorry but this might be my second to the last blog post ever. Sorry for this but the next project that we will be doing will be awesome and I promise that I won't let you down. So hope ya'll had a good day and goodbye my saucy friends!

Metamorphosis Animation

P1T4 Metamorphosis from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Hello everyone and I hope you guys are having a good day! So if you don't already know my G.T. class is starting a new project! (when am I ever gonna stop saying that?) We will be doing an animation project but this one is different from the other ones we've done already. So we will be doing an animation project but the topic is METAMORPHOSIS! So we basically need to do an animation movie with the main character transforming into a different thing. The main goal in this project is to have the main character or anyone in the film to be transformed into an inanimate thing or an animate thing. Something just needs to be transformed during the movie.

Our focus state was mainly show people if you can think it you can do it, and to show that dreams do come true. So in Scene 1, a girl, Julie, is walking home from a bad day from school and kicks her foot on the rock and gets her foot hurt. So in scene 2, she grabs the rock and throws it to the ground because she hurt her foot. In scene 3 the stone wakes up but he's a human. he then meets this girl and becomes friends and learns to hover. In scene 4 as he's hovering he runs into Julie and the talk about how the stone got his feelings hurt and so then Julie apologizes and they become friends. In the last scene the stone runs into the tree and wakes up surrounded by his friends and they are all happy and they walk into the sunset.

Even though not one person voted for our I still really liked this project and it was really fun hanging out with mah GURRRRRLLLSSS. People thought our project was a 3 because there wasnt that much foley and there should've been music in some places.  Some of our best parts were the ending part with us laughing. I actually got them to laugh by a line I said kind of weird. I said "owwwwww... oof!" If you heard me say that you guys would've laughed with us also. Or I'm not really sure about with us more like at us. Well thank you reading this weeks post and always remember to have fun because your adventure has just begun.

Geometric Portraits

Hello everyone! Welcome to another new blog post! I know this phrase is getting old but guess what. OUR G.T. CLASS IS STARTING A NEW PROJECT! This time we will be making a Low Poly Portraits. But before I tell you anymore about this project I'm gonna teach you a little bit about facial expressions. Facial expressions could be universal. People all around the world have different emotional faces because we were all born different.

So let's get right into this project! This project is pretty easy but is very time consuming. So the first step to this project is to get a picture of your subject. If you want your work to be done take a portrait. You have a lot of time on your hands then take any picture you want but it has to be of the subject's face. Th next step is to import it onto your computer and then open it photoshop. If you've taken a portrait then try to find the exact middle of your subject's face and with the line tool make a line right in the middle of  your face.

So in this project we made 4 different poly portraits, all a different way from the other. Our "Easy" portrait we took a picture of ourselves with a filter and it didn't look that nice and we didn't have that much control in creating it. In our second Poly Portrait we had a little bit of control in how we wanted to design it but it was a lot of work. First we would have to outline it with red lines and then fill the red lines with blur. It was a much longer process and it was still hard because we sometimes we would underlap the blur because the red line would be in the way and we wouldn't know where the line would end or start. And the the picture we took had to be symmetrical and we had to place the head in the correct place and split the face right in half then your last step would have to copy the image and add the outline and flip the other side and place it on the other side of the face. So there was a lot of steps and it was hard. Our third one was probably one of my favorite ones even though I kinda rushed at the end (the right eye and nose). We had a lot of freedom and the best part about this was that we got to chose a certain color so that every triangle we chose it would be different color than the other triangles that have another color. We also got to put in a custom background that we created. This process was really fun however very time consuming. But there's nothing you can do about the time consuming part. Something will always consume your time whether it's something or nothing. So there was a different way to do each poly portrait. I hope you guys had a good time reading my new post and I'll see you in the next one!

Verbal Landscapes

Hello everyone and welcome to another new log post. Today we are doing a new project and this project is still gonna be about poetry. The project is called ReTime Nature. And of course there will be nature in it. Nature impacts us in a really big way. It make us be more grateful for what we have because when we have a certain thing in nature but is taken away from us we become more grateful that we had it before and wish they had it right now. Nature is really beautiful. It could turn a sad person into a happy person by just being beautiful. But nature impacts me a lot by reducing stress.

In our new project we will be using only time-lapse and Slo-Mos. You probably think that getting time-lapses and slo-mos are easy, yeah? You also might be thinking that you can shoot it on your iPhone 6 or 6S. Well you're wrong. It's actually really hard when you don't have a iPhone 6 or 6S. So for your time-lapse you need to set your camera in the place where you wanna film. If you want a nice looking time-lapse then remember to get 2/3 sky and 1/3 landscape. So after you set your camera press record and leave it for at least 15 mins for a nice time-lapse. Make sure you keep an eye on the camera to make sure it doesnt fall over from the wind. Now the slo-mo is easy. You really just take a video of something that you desire and then you're good. Just make sure there's movement so you can slow it down. Now with your clips you wanna import it into Final Cut Pro (FPCX). Then pull your clips into your timeline. Then there's a button that has this icon that looks like a wand. you wanna press that and some of the options will be "Slow..." and "Fast..." You press those to slow down or speed up your video to the desired speed you want.

I think one of the hardest parts of the project was getting the perfect time-lapse. Whenever I did time-lapses they would either have glares or the wind would knock it over. Whenever That happened i would want to punch something or I would do it again. The wind would knock it over because I would be using a iPhone 5 instead of a more stable camera to shoot my time-lapses. Another hard part about the project was that I'm just really busy. My only time to shoot my Slow-Mos and time-lapse was either in the morning or on one of the days I didn't have soccer or football practice (which was only one day). But the project was still fun. Even though some of my time-lapses and my slo-Mos didn't come out like the way it did I still really like some of the finished projects. Not only mine but everyone else's one too. Well that's it for this weeks blog post and I'll see you in the next one!

Poetic Personal Statement

Hello everybody and welcome to my new blogpost of the year! If you don't already know who I am, I am Makaio Gonsalves. If you want to see my 6th ad 7th grade blog click this! Well, It's the start of a new school year and guess what that means. IT MEANS A NEW GT PROJECT! Yeah. I know. It's getting old real quick. It's mainly gonna be talking about poetry. Poetry is a type of literature that is used to explain things with metaphor, rhyming, alliteration, and more. Poetry could also be personal. Poetry can show the different emotions of how other people feel such as, anger, sadness, happiness, etc. You can show poetry by writing poems, drawing paintings, even singing song is poetry.

Here is my poetic statement. I hope you like it!

Jump high
Reach for the sky.
Try to achieve your dreams,
even if you're the shortest Kareem
When you were born, you were destined for good
My mama said yes cause she always understood

In my poetic statement, I used rhyming and a little bit of rhythm. In my first and second line, I put high and sky as rhymes. I also put dreams and Kareem. If you don't know what a Kareem is, I'm talking about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I put rhythm and rhymes in my poetic statement because what really pulls a reader to reading a certain rhymes are the rhymes. After people read my poem I hope people are thinking "Wow! That's very clever!" Everybody loves having a really clever rhyme in the poem. Well that's it for this week's blog post. See you in the next one!
